he Ministerial Technologies Matrix™ is a novel concept that allows your Christian organization to establish a framework to comprehend, coordinate and conduct technology in service of ministry. There are three areas of comprehension:
- To know the biblical foundations for technology. Even though the Bible is not a technology manual, it does not mean that it isn’t filled with technology references and foundational principles for governance.
- To be able to define what technology is and articulate its three basic functions first to then be able to define the concept of ministerial technologies.
- To develop an ample vision of technology in the context of strategic planning and the mission of the Church.
Coordinate
There are three areas of coordination that allow the organization to, well, organize technology:
- To review or create the organization’s strategic plan around the roles that technology will play to reach each of the strategic goals.
- To establish an information technologies and an all-technologies services organizational structure based on the Ministerial Technologies Matrix™, to manage the time, treasures and talent of the organization.
- To attain the strategic alignment of the organization’s use of technology in each of the five essential functions of ministry, as defined by the matrix.
Conduct
Once the framework is in place, it is fully comprehended and fully established, the organization can move forward to improve its technology management approach:
- To understand and apply sustainability and support principles needed to reach new levels of technological maturity as outlined in their map.
- To implement a project management culture that could facilitate the implementation of every new technology initiative.
- To move the use of technology from its first two basic functions into its third, allowing the organization to become smarter through a system of feedback and learning.
I help churches and Christian organizations to comprehend, coordinate and conduct their technology initiatives by implementing the Ministerial Technologies Matrix™. For this purpose, I have created a series of brainstorming and planning sessions, and a set of instruments that allow me to evaluate the current state of the organization in terms of its technological maturity, and create their Maturity Personalized Map™. The map and the matrix allow the organization to reach their strategic goals through the implementation of ministerial technologies.
The sessions are delivered via three seminars and six workshops. Seminars have a typical duration of one hour each and can be combined into one larger session. Workshops have a typical duration of three hours each, as you can see in the following table:
If your organization wish to complete its Maturity Personalized Map™, it is necessary to participate in all nine sessions, plus a tenth final brainstorming session. These ten sessions will result into the final map documentation. The map could translate into short, medium or long consulting engagements, depending on the specific needs of your church or organization. For example, if your organization is about to enter a process to be revitalized, I would offer a model around strategic planning and ministerial technologies. If your organization needs to strengthen its ability to complete technology initiatives, I would offer a model around project management, and so forth.
